Analyse HOFA

Songwriting & Arrangement:

This song is a typical rock ballad and shows some elements of the 70s. Compared to other artists and bands it reminds us a little band of the band Slade. The overall songwriting is good and the arrangement fits the mood of the song pretty well. We noticed that the chorus of the song could stand out even more effectively from the rest of the song. With choruses, it is important that they clearly differ from the verses so that the tension is increased and the chorus is catchy. This increase can be achieved e.g. by a change of harmony and / or a widening in the stereo panorama - especially the rhythm section can also contribute a lot to the fact that one part of the song stands out from the other. An increase in volume or other processing can be implemented using automation in order to make the chorus more exciting.

Recording / Performance:

All instruments are "tight" and played to the beat. This is an important aspect that significantly influences the quality of the song. The singer's phonetics is unfortunately not quite optimal for your song. It is very important to ensure correct pronunciation when recording. A dictionary with phonetic transcription can also be helpful. Keep in mind that an indifferent pronunciation affects the entire sound of the song.

Sound:

We noticed that the reverb you used is not quite optimal for the song. In this case you have used relatively much reverb, which makes the instruments seem a little too indirect. In future, be careful not to place too much emphasis on reverb so that the instruments sound more direct. The dynamics of the vocals could be a little more controlled. You can compress the vocals a bit more - as long as the processing is not consciously perceived as such. You could also make the frequency response of your mix more natural - we can still hear potential here. This may be due to unmusical volumes of individual tracks, as well as corresponding EQing.

The following screenshot shows a picture of a spectral analyser where you see the frequency curves of your mix. The lower curve describes the average energy level, whereas the upper curve shows the corresponding peak hold per band:
